Tribute to Professor Tony Walker ASM

22 July 2026

The Australian Resuscitation Council is deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Tony Walker ASM, a distinguished leader whose contribution to paramedicine, emergency care and resuscitation has left an enduring legacy across Australia and beyond.

We join with our colleagues around Australia and the world in remembering Tony for his compassion, integrity and genuine care for people. He understood that every emergency response centres on a person in need and on those committed to providing care, and he consistently championed both.

Tony was a valued long-term contributor to the Australian Resuscitation Council, serving as the chair of the Victorian State Branch for 15 years. He was recognised for his service by the Council as an inductee to the Australian Resuscitation Council Roll of Honour and as a recipient of the ARC Medal in 2017.

The Australian Resuscitation Council extends its sincere condolences to Tony’s family, friends, colleagues and the wider ambulance, resuscitation and healthcare communities. We honour his extraordinary service and his lasting contribution to saving lives.
